My Story
As a stockbroker, financial counselor, financial advisor or educator since 1984, I have worked to empower clients to make the best financial decisions for their own priorities. My advising philosophy is firmly in the "Guide on the Side" camp in the tradition of educators, rather than the less collaborative "Sage on the Stage" approach. My preference for the role of coach and advisor led me to ultimately form Twight Financial Education, LLC in 2011.
As a lifelong learner, I have added recently to my education, below are several of my roles and training.

My broad experience includes advising new college graduates about investments, credit usage, improving spending plans, to addressing the question for a potential retiree, "Do I have enough?" Favorite client engagements involve financial planning, retirement planning, employee 401(k) education, and investment asset allocation planning. As a fee-only financial planner (hourly fees paid only by my clients), I do not sell any investment or insurance products. This allows me to offer unbiased, independent advice and knowledge while working with you on your goals and dreams.
Little known tidbit: My CliftonStrengths themes are Activator, Belief, Input, Intellection, and Learner.
Community Service
Public service and volunteerism are core values for me. I served on the Washington State Board of Education for four years and raised funds for United Way of King County in 2005, and the Univ. of Wash. Combined Fund Drive in 2006 while in graduate school. These experiences led me to volunteer on local workforce development boards, and the executive board of the League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County. I am a proud lifetime member of the University of Washington Alumni Association, the Girl Scouts and the American Association of University Women.
I have been on the Board of Washington Jump$tart and I have been a general member of Financial Education Public Private Partnership (aka FEPPP). I have been a member of the Emerald City Toastmasters Club in Seattle since 2009. (Ready for public speaking every day!) My most recent Board work was as a Foundation Board member of the Bayview Homes Retirement Community from 2017-2019. I have also volunteered in public schools and engaged in civic activism.

Personal - Although I have lived in a log cabin in a national park, I have lived in Tacoma or Seattle most of my life, with two years in Prague in the 1990's. My parents live in the Seattle area (I live in Edmonds) and I enjoy spending time with them, attending live arts programs, training for random walks and occasionally teaching group cycling.
